Geo Pomona Waste Management Pvt Ltd has donated fifteen colour-coded bins to the Parliament of Zimbabwe, in a move that strengthens the country’s commitment to sustainability while opening pathways for smarter agriculture.

The donation, which supports  National Development Strategy 1 (NDS1), is not just about keeping parliament clean. By promoting proper waste separation paper, plastics, cans, biodegradable matter, and glass the initiative lays the foundation for recycling and organic composting, both of which are key to sustainable farming practices.

Biodegradable waste, when properly managed, can be transformed into organic manure that enriches soils, reduces dependence on chemical fertilizers, and boosts smallholder farmers productivity. With Zimbabwe already registering successive bumper harvests, such innovations ensure that agricultural growth remains climate-smart and environmentally sustainable.

Dr. Dilesh Nguwaya, Geo Pomona CEO and Executive Chairman, emphasized that leadership institutions should set the tone for environmental stewardship.

Parliament is the heart of our nation’s policy and decision-making. By equipping this institution with proper waste management tools, we are setting a positive example that will ripple across all sectors of society,” he said.

The initiative also echoes the goals of the Presidential Rural Development Programme, which seeks to empower communities through improved natural resource management. By starting at the highest policy-making institution, this gesture by geo pomona reinforces government efforts to ensure that responsible waste management feeds into the broader agricultural value chain.

This step signals a future where waste is no longer seen as a problem, but as a resource that supports farming communities, strengthens food security, and contributes to the realization of Vision 2030.
